Marilyn Phillips OAM is a qualified and experienced piano and singing teacher and vocal coach, offering lessons from her music studio in City Beach. She is an Accredited Teaching member of the West Australian Music Teachers’ Association.
Marilyn studied piano at the Royal Academy of Music, with a Ralph Vaughan William Scholarship enabling her to specialise in piano accompaniment. She was a vocal coach at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, and musical director with the Royal Shakespeare Company and numerous musical productions in London’s West End.
Since moving to Perth, Marilyn was appointed Head of Music at West Australian Opera and subsequently Chorus Director of the WASO Chorus. She also teaches specialist genres of vocal classes at WAAPA. Her knowledge of the voice, along with advanced accompaniment skills and considerable vocal repertoire knowledge, from music theatre to art song and opera, has made Marilyn Phillips a sought-after teacher and vocal coach.
