A violist in WASO, AMEB examiner, accredited WAMTA member and current AUSTA WA President, I enjoy teaching viola and violin students from age 4 upwards.
Violin students I teach at elementary level, and viola at all levels including beginners on mini violas (this is possible from around age 6 upwards).
My background includes graduating from Manhattan School of Music New York with Lillian Fuchs, lessons with William Primrose, Mischa Elman student Andre Hadges, and Paul O’Brien, past Principal Viola of Melbourne Symphony. This background informs and inspires my teaching, alongside pedagogical interests and research including Paul Rolland, Molly Gebrian, Suzuki, Kurt Sassmannshaus, Dalcroze and Body Mapping.
With a secure technical and theoretical basis for progress, students explore music in a variety of genres for sight reading, repertoire, improvisation and general musical skills.
Past students include professional players, teachers, and many others enjoy music while pursuing other careers.
