Heather Connan is a qualified and experienced viola and violin teacher for all age groups, offering music lessons from her studio in Southern River, Perth WA. She is an Accredited Teaching Member of the West Australian Music Teachers’ Association.
Heather studied at the University of Melbourne Institute of Education majoring in classroom and instrumental music with specialisation in strings. She has taught individuals, small groups and ensembles in a private Melbourne school as violin teacher and viola specialist.
Heather has played, and continues to play viola, violin and cello with several amateur orchestras and ensembles, including the Classic Sounds Orchestra. She has also played with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra‘s “Rusty Orchestra”.
She has also worked as a music specialist in both primary and secondary school settings, including through a School of the Air. She currently teaches with the Department of Education’s Instrumental Music School Services.
Heather firmly believes that technique and musicality must be taught together. She is available for individual lessons and can assist with working toward AMEB exam preparation and/or performance goals.
